Lake
Osborne Fishing
Lake
Osborne, Fishing for trophy bass and bluegill with a guide.
Experience true urban
fishing on the Lake Osborne chain.
Located in Lake Worth, Florida just minutes from the West Palm Beach Airport and
beautiful Palm Beach Beaches. It produces fine catches of largemouth bass.
Lake Osborne is located just west of I-95 on Lake Worth road. Ideal for a local
get-a-way or taking a few minutes away from your hectic work
schedule.
Most
of the lakes edges are coved with Eelgrass and hydrilla which provides good
cover to target largemouth bass moving in and out of the shorelines. Live
shiners free-lined in deep holes and around the edges of vegetation is a big producer for largemouth bass.
Lake Osbornelargemouth
will hit many of the popular lures such as topwater baits, spinnerbaits, and
plastic worms worked during early morning
hours and late afternoon. Bluegill and redear sunfish (shellcracker) fishing is
almost always good and especially during the spring months.
Such
fishing tranquility can be hard to find in such urban areas during the week. On
the
weekends Lake Osborne is a popular spot for fishing and water sports. Sure, you can catch
bass and panfish in Lake Osborne and canal system on a pretty Sunday. But the experience isn't
quite the same with speedboats, water-skiers and water scooters zooming by. One
of the ways to escape the weekend crowds is with our guides, were we find smaller lakes and
canals that attach them selves to the Osborne system that do not see the pressure
the main lake does.

Lake Osborne, which includes Limpkin Lake and
Custard Apple Slough, encompasses approximately 400 acres. It is part of the
system of once natural freshwater lakes lying along the western slope of the
coastal ridge in Palm Beach County. This lake system has been greatly impacted
by human activities. It has been extensively modified and reduced in size by
dredge and fill activities from urban/residential development. Several lakes
were completely filled and built upon. The lakes were probably dredged during
canal construction in the 1920s or earlier. It is likely that filling of the
adjacent wetlands for residential construction occurred at the same time or
later. Limpkin Lake and its oxbow were dredged for fill in the 1960s, and
additional dredging occurred in the north lobe of Lake Osborne in the 1970s.
In
addition, John Prince Park offers an ecotourism destination for visitors seeking
a natural experience where they can enjoy and learn about this ecosystem. Here's
some detailed information about the Park that surrounds lake Osborne.
